this was from December 2009

both of my dad's parents passed away last week, within a few days of each other.  They were 98 and 102 and lived very long lives.  Survived by 3 children, 7 grand children and 6 great grandchildren.  married an enviable 72 years, they lived at home until their last days.  While it's always hard to lose a loved one, we are comforted knowing they had such full lives and are with each other forevermore.

Playdate

we've scheduled several play dates at our house recently to keep the winter blues away.  Here Josh & Colin were so cute IN the toy chest.

Florida Part 4

We finally got down to Delray Beach to visit Jared's grandparents and introduce Josh in person.

We went to the beach, and I think Josh liked his first trip to the ocean.

Josh rode back to the apartment in just his diaper - so much sand and water everywhere we didn't want to get in the car seat.  

Florida Part 3

Wednesday we went to the Leu Gardens.  Since we are members of the Chicago Botanic Gardens, we got in for FREE!  Love that reciprocal agreement.

 

Florida Part 2

Tuesday we finally got a chance to be tourists, so we went to Seaworld.  We specifically chose our hotel location because it was within walking distance of the park.

We saw flamingos, sting rays, dolphins,  turtles, and sharks. oh, and penguins

That night we went to the Cape May Cafe Restaurant at the Disney Beach Club Resort for dinner for seafood buffet.  We took a walk afterward and caught this pic.

Florida Part 1

January 16th through 20th we traveled to Orlando for vacation, with Cathy's parents.

Our first full day was rainy, so we spent some time at LegoLand.  (Well we thought it was, but in researching the link I guess that's something else.  We just went to the Lego Store.)  They had innumerable open Legos to play with.

Afterwards, we were needing some refreshments.  Thank you Ghirardelli ice cream shakes!
