Halloween

the day had finally come, and it was time to trick or Treat!

unfortunately, Halloween in Chicago is often cold...I'll have to remember to get them both warmer costumes next year!

Gabe (dinosaur), Madden (m&m), Josh (spiderman)
Emery (just happy to be trick or treating!)

Surprisingly, at 4:30, when we went out, not many people were there...maybe it was too cold...we didn't give away most of our candy!

Creepy Castle

Neighboring Wheeling had a free event for the kids.  Kids were invited to come dressed in costume.  they had set up some bounce houses in the gym, had pumpkin decorating in one room and storytelling in another...

waiting in line for the bounce house

wouldn't pose for the picture after decorating the pumpkin

Caitlyn seemed...interested?

Updates

Well, I finally took nap time today to update the blog...sorry it seems I haven't adequately posted since September 30th!

My brother's wedding will be updated later, as we have some pictures to edit still.  The other update in our world is how much Caitlyn is developing...She's this close to crawling on her own, preferring instead to scoot on her belly, using both her hands and her feet.  She'll go up on her feet, and put her head down, kind of like a downward dog yoga move, but then fall to her belly to propel herself forward.   She also really likes to stand up, holding on to furniture, which is about the same as what Josh was doing at this age.  She likes to stand at the jumperoo, which I don't recall Josh doing.  She will take a few hesitant "steps" with her walker, but they are really more like sliding her feet.

She laughs...Smiles so much...Scrunches her nose.  Still uses a raking grasp to pick up food, but wants to eat everything and is rarely satisfied.  Often wants to eat what is on my plate, even if it is the same as on her tray.  Sometimes if she is tired, she'll let me spoon feed her, but often she wants it NOW! Grapes are her favorite food, close second is banana, and I think she really loves breads.  She was a big fan of lasagna the other night.  She claps and wants to play with Josh's toys...there's no distinction between her toys and Josh's toys, except of course the ones that we don't let her play with because of choking hazards.  She'll start sitting, army crawl somewhere else and then push herself back to sitting.  She sleeps through the nights, most nights, but still usually wakes up about 11pm looking for her pacifier.  Usually asleep by 8pm and is our alarm clock at 7am almost. every. morning.  She is such a joy and of course a blessing.  And it is amazing to watch her grow up.  Fun to watch them play together.  She has a few favorite books, Princess Baby is one of them.  And understands "So Big" raising her arms above her head.

Pumpkin Splash

The park district has this even each year.  they fill the indoor zero depth pool with plastic pumpkins filled with treats (kind of like an Easter Egg Hunt).  Josh was finally old enough to participate this year.

Bringing his haul...in fact, he got 10 spider rings...one for each finger!
Caitlyn wasn't old enough to participate, but they did have a free swim, and isn't this bikini from my friend Mandy the cutest!
