Nursery closet

Another home improvement project! (I really am lucky to have such a handy husband. ) All the wonderful gifts we got at the shower last weekend made me realize we needed to do something with this closet. So we took a trip to Home Depot and picked up some closetmaid shelves. Once we were done, it really hit me that this baby is coming soon. We still need a few more things before I'll unveil the nursery to you completely, so keep watching!

Before

After

This weekend Jared and his dad flexed their electricians muscle and installed a ceiling light/fan in the nursery. It wasn't as simple as installing a fixture, they also had to run electricity to the ceiling, through the attic, which is why you see Jared's hand in the first picture!
Plus, this is another tease at showing you the nursery. In the coming weeks, we'll be putting the finishing touches on the room and will unveil it to you before the baby comes, hopefully he's not too early!

Smores!

So how do you entertain a 29-almost-30 year old man? With inside smores of course!
We had gotten this smores maker (which is a mis-nomer in itself, because you have to hold the marshmallows up there for the longesst time) as a gift from our wedding, and though we had used it a couple of times, tonight was pretty fun. Jared had asked that we make smores on Valentines, day but in packing to move to the house, I think I threw away the old sterno cans, not wanting anything flamable in boxes. I didn't realize this until we went to make the smores that night, and you wouldn't believe how hard it is to find sterno cans! I eventually had to purchase some from Amazon by way of CANADA! Since it has been raining for the past 3 days or so, we thought it would be fun to make the smores tonight. I know some day we'll probably break it out for the kids, but for now, us adults had some good snacks!

New Job

I know I've kind of kept this on the down-low, but last week, I officially started a new job as a Data Analyst for Lincoln Financial. I started there just before Thanksgiving as a temp through Kelly Services. They were on a hiring freeze, but had an open position and wanted me to interview. What did I have to lose? I interviewed and accepted the position right around New Years, so we couldn't visit the Futrells in Nashville as we had hoped. :( I had to work through February 25th as a Kelly temp to fulfill that obligation, but last Wednesday I officially became a Lincoln Financial employee. I work in the Retirement Services line of business, processing payroll files that come from more than 35 clients. They're pretty impressed with me, and keep giving me more responsibilities. They know I'm pregnant, and though I won't get 3 months off when the baby comes, I will still have my job, and get paid through that time. And for those of you who are my Mary Kay clients, don't fret: I'll still supply you with your Mary Kay fix whenever you need it. I'm just a call away!
