Happy Halloween!

Halloween at school...we did go to school as a monkey, but the classroom gets kind of warm and that costume is pretty hot, so i dressed him in another costume underneath, in case he got warm

playing with pumpkin potato head*

this was a big hit last week too, playing with rice.  the good thing about it, I guess, is that when it's clean up time, Josh goes over and gets the broom and dust pan...now we just got to work on the preciseness of getting the spilled rice in the dustpan...in time

At rug time, we have been playing pass the ball to the music...you know the game...when the music stops, the person holding the ball is out?  Well, we are first working on passing the ball!  I thought this was so cute this girl held Josh's hand the whole time and he didn't seem to mind one bit!
Trick or Treating at night - Josh was much more into trick or treating this year...ran up to the doors and rang the doorbells (he could reach).  Saying Trick or Treat and even thank you!

we met up with Woody aka Gabe

*I actually bought something similar to do at our house, but I couldn't figure out how to stick the potato head pieces in the pumpkin...perhaps it's pregnancy brain, but duh, I guess you could just drill holes in the pumpkin...we'll try next year.

Saturday....Saturday, Saturday

building a really BIG tower, using all the blocks...it was bigger than Josh

Dinner, yes he's wearing a hoodie, hat on top of that and gloves...not sure why he was so cold, it was 70 in the house but it's what he wanted
and not to throw you off... the Eagles game is Sunday, but Josh wanted to wear his Eagles shirt, and wouldn't give up until Jared did too...since I'm writing this during the Eagles game on Sunday, the score is currently 34 to 7, perhaps wearing the shirts a day early is a good luck charm!

Children's Museum

Jared took Friday off, after a last minute and quick trip to New York.  We decided to check out the Children's Museum today...surprisingly it was kind of light on attendance...good for us!

calling from the library

he spent a lot of time working with this excavator....finally got the coordination between  lifting the arm up and opening the claw

He also spent a lot of time in the train exhibit, what a surprise...

Pajamas

First, Josh had on these red and blue fire engine pjs...because his friend had some similar on earlier.  He was so excited to wear these...I think it was the novelty of footed pajamas...however the seam in the foot soon got the better of him. So, we broke out these button down curious George pajamas...he loved these because they had buttons, not because they were curious George!

Sunday, Sunday

Reading Thomas books
Aidan came over to play this morning.  Josh is potty training, so he only had underwear on...more on that to come.

Later we finally decorated our pumpkins

This was our first attempt at an intricate design...looks pretty good
Then we broke out the paints and let Josh paint his pumpkin

Zoo, Again

We were surprised to have beautiful weather this morning and scurried to find a way to spend the day outside...finally we settled on a trip to the Zoo.  Since Josh is potty training, we spent most of the day running to the bathroom; well Jared did.  but Josh did awesome!  in fact, he didn't have a potty accident the whole time we were there!

So we only got this one picture of Josh and Jared on the carousel at the end of our visit, just like I promised the last time

Knobs

this doorknob has a lock on the inside.  We have changed it, along with the nursery.  I don't feel children should be able to lock their bedroom doors.

the original closet knobs.

I found these cute baseball knobs on eBay.

Closet

In our slow reveal of Josh's big boy room (first the bed), we now have the closet.

finished

We decided we didn't want to purchase a dresser for this room, at least right now.  We've had some experience re-doing closets*, so we purchased some components from home depot and hopefully this configuration will last a long time.  Shelves, drawers and hanging space.  Still have to post the desk, bookshelf, blinds, door knob and closet knobs...stay tuned!

Day Downtown

We had a busy day downtown.  First we met friends in from Atlanta and their new baby Robbie.  Then we played on the playground near the fire station.

Then we checked out the Legoland Store.

We were amazed how much time Josh wanted to spend here and how well he sat playing for almost 45 minutes!
Then we went to Addy's 2nd Annual Halloween Party.  Josh wore his costume for a few minutes before he got too warm and took it off.

Morton Arboretum, Finally

Well, true to my word, we went to visit the Morton Arboretum...I forgot it was a day off from school - it turned out to be very crowded, since they were extending their October weekend activities, but we did well enough.  we didn't spend any time really exploring the trees, and instead spent all of our time at the children's garden.  I guess maybe the trees would have been a bit boring for Josh anyway.

The Frog fountain was a hit again, though this time Josh was also interested in hoarding the smooth rocks.

you can see here he is waiting for the water to push the rocks off

this water pump powered the windmill below

This time we also explored the garden a little further and found this rope course.  About half way through he finally started trying to climb on the ropes instead of between them.
